SHEA BUTTER (locally known as 'Komoro"): This is fat that is extracted from nuts of the Shea trees in the northern part of Uganda particularly Yumbe district. Shea butter contains high concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins which are ingredients for softening skin and it has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Using shea butter on the body can condition, tone, and soothe your skin. The raw unrefined shea butter is packaged as a natural remedy for skin and hair problems and as cooking oil (cholesterol free healthy alternative).
Health Benefits of Shea Butter: Low cholesterol, treats dry skin, acne and blemishes, skin inflammations, anti aging, itchy &peeling skin, stretch marks, lip care, damaged hair, prevents hair loss(hair growth), treats dry and itchy scalp, hair conditioner,soothes muscle aches, rheumatism, arthritis, insect bites & stings, eczema, UV protection, treats dandruff and ringworm.
BALANITE OIL: This oil is extracted from the balanite seed/desert date produced from the balanite tree. The Balanite oil is a good source of essential unsaturated fatty acids and is packaged for majorly health purposes.
Health Benefits of Balanite oil: Treats jaundice, intestinal worm infection, wounds, malaria, syphilis, epilepsy, dysentery, constipation, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, stomach aches, ulcers, asthma, fever.
ABOUT US
NAREO Enterprise was initiated in May 2018 following the realization that the West Nile region of Uganda has many under utilized Natural resources considering the region being one of the poorest in Uganda. Burning of trees especially shea nut trees for charcoal has became a common economic activity after the locals realized they were not getting fair benefits from the shea nuts thereby contributing to environmental degradation, deforestation and a risk of the shea tree facing extinction.Meanwhile Balanite due to the seed being hard it was only few old Women who could manage to make oil from it by locally cracking the seed. The local method of making oil from these Natural Resources also demanded lots of Firewood and could not attract International Market due to the quality of the products. Therefore we decided to employ machinery for production of quality products using the resources (shea nuts and balanite seeds) therefore creating employment for both rural and urban youth and empowering the women at the grass roots (shea nut and balanite fruit/seed collectors) to improve household incomes whilst preserving the trees.
